Graybar Business Development Manager - Industrial Automation in Valley View, Ohio

This position will be responsible for driving the business strategy to accelerate growth within the Automation Specialist Group (Control Products, Controllers, Drives, Software and Motion). The Automation Specialist will be the technical liaison between Graybar’s automation partners and field sales organization providing marketing and commercial leadership for sales growth. They will also take the lead role in developing a competency plan to ensure support functions (inside sales/outside sales/support staff) are adequately prepared to maximize share gain for these businesses within their respective markets.
Specialist Competencies 1) Technical Competency · Effectively and accurately fields technical questions for assigned products · Understands and pursues the complementary product lines within Automation solutions · Provides application and product selection advice for assigned products · Able to systematically differentiate products/solutions from competition and promote the variances as benefits to the customer · Possess network competency to effectively align efforts with connected plants and big data · Basic Knowledge of control panel design, PLC’s, VFD’s, HMI, SCADA
2) Marketing Competency
· Act as the point person for the Automation business strategy at the field levels they support · Support the development and implementation of the Graybar industrial business plan for the Automation segment · Study and document market conditions, competitive offerings and identify opportunities for growth · Be able to articulate Graybar’s value proposition in the Automation space both commercially and technically · Act as subject matter expert for implementation of marketing efforts, promotion programs, and product launches for Graybar’s Automation businesses · Lead Automation commercial programs, customer events and activities.
3) Sales Leadership Competency · Exceed sales and margin growth targets and deliver on management objectives · Coordinate sales teaming efforts required to identify and close account conversions and project sales opportunities · Guide and coach team members to ensure they are able to effectively utilize all sales tool sat their disposal.
