As a Tax Accountant – Tax Systems, you will effectively manage underlying tax data to assist in the preparation of state sales and/or income tax returns, audit defense reporting, and miscellaneous other analytical work related to Corporate tax.
In this role you will:
Provide support for critical tax systems, related system reporting, and applicable tax data analytics.
Assist in preparing, tracking, and filing state income and/or sales tax returns with payments; resolve issues with state and local taxing authorities.
Stay abreast and advise of changes in sales tax laws, rates, etc.
Assist in other areas of tax preparation and filing.
Assist in the management of Company sales tax exemption certificates.
Assist in balancing Corporate tax general ledger accounts.
Research tax issues related to state tax accounts with State Departments of Revenue and related taxing authorities.
Monitor compliance with Corporate tax policies and procedures, and make recommendations for improvement.
What you bring to the table:
3 years’ experience related to tax or accounting experience
Advanced degree: MBA, MST, CPA or candidate for CPA Certification preferred
Vertex Certified or candidate for Vertex Certification
Knowledge of audit data requirements and related support
Knowledge of state income and sales tax filing forms
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Vertex/Insource Tax Software platforms
Return, estimate, and tax calculation preparation skills
Ability to stay current in state tax laws
Ability to be detail oriented
Ability to multitask
Ability to meet deadlines on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
Ability to coordinate tax payment remittances
Ability to recognize problems and data inconsistencies
Ability to be efficient in the construction of tax audit work papers and files
