Graybar Senior Tax Accountant - Returns Management in St Louis, Missouri

As a Senior Tax Accountant – Returns Management, you will manage the timely filing of all sales and use tax returns, miscellaneous reports, and remittances to mitigate potential financial exposure related to Company tax return compliance processes. This position will also coordinate sales and use tax return function with sales and use tax audit defense function.
In this role you will:
Review the preparation of all U.S. sales and use tax returns and remittances.
Review the preparation of all non-U.S. consumption tax returns and remittances.
Design, run, and analyze tax management reports and tax audit reports.
Ensure accuracy of sales and exemption filings and resolve reporting anomalies.
Provide support and advice to other sales tax department personnel.
Review sales and use tax journal entries, account reconciliations, etc. and ensure the adequacy of all sales and use tax records.
Review responses to sales and use tax notices and requests for resale certificates, tax clearance letters, and customer refund claims.
Monitor compliance with Corporate Tax policies and procedures, and make recommendations for improvement.
What you bring to the table:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience required; 6-10 years’ experience preferred
Four-year degree required
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate preferred
Knowledge of Vertex Indirect Tax Returns software
Knowledge of sales and use tax concepts, laws, regulations and rules
Knowledge of sales and use tax audit data requirements and related support
Knowledge of sales and use tax research software
Tax return, tax estimate, and tax calculation preparation skills
Vertex software skills
Supervisory and leadership skills
Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills
Ability to stay current with respect to sales and use tax laws
Ability to be detail oriented
Ability to meet deadlines on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
Ability to coordinate tax payment remittances
Ability to recognize problems and data inconsistencies
