Shingle & Gibb’s District Sales Manager (DM) is responsible for interacting with a defined group of Customers, generally in the same geographic area, in order to generate sales of the Company’s products within that account base by solving those customers’ industrial automation applications. This can be done by defending our position and introducing new products/Suppliers with existing customers as well as prospecting for new accounts. The DSM will exude a passion for the customer by exceeding their expectations and building strong partnerships with current and prospective clients. At Shingle & Gibb, we view our suppliers as customers and expect the DSM to build strong partnerships with suppliers as well as our valued customers.

Work Environment/ Travel: As a member of the Outside Sales Department, work is performed in the field traveling to customer sites or remotely when not in the field. As a part of the Outside Sales Team, the District Sales Manager is required to schedule appointments to qualify new accounts and opportunities or to further a relationship or opportunity with an existing customer. Driving is required and the Outside Sales Team may be exposed to inclement weather conditions.

Most of the travel will be in the local region daily, however, overnight travel should be expected. Occasional Supplier training at their facilities may require overnight travel outside of the region. Expect 25 nights per year minimum of travel.

The expected pay rate for this position is starting at $75,000 annually. This position is also commission eligible based on specific and relevant business metrics. You will also receive three weeks of vacation in your first 12 months of employment as well as sick days and holidays. Responsibilities:

  • Communicates, promotes and showcases the Shingle & Gibb Core Values, Vision, policies and procedures throughout the organization.

  • Demonstrate expertise with the latest technologies and solutions related to industrial automation.

  • Participates in sales forecasting activities and pursues agreed upon performance goals accordingly.

  • Utilizes Shingle’s CRM platform to record activities and opportunities per current Company policies and procedures.

  • Maintains Shingle’s Potential Tables for assigned accounts.

  • Generates & pursues leads within the region by way of cold-calling, telephone calls, supplier referrals and trade associations.

  • Creates and follows up on quotations for customers either directly or in coordination with Customer Service Team.

  • Strives to exceed customer expectations and builds strong relationships with current and perspective clients.

  • Develops and maintains solid relationships with suppliers and their representatives in the region.

  • Schedules and documents joint sales calls with Supplier.

  • In coordination with RSM, attends training events held by suppliers to remain relevant on product knowledge.

  • Coordinates customer training on suppliers’ manufactured products.

  • Performs product demonstrations with a high degree of skill and technical expertise.

  • Participates in events, promotions, client entertainment and other activities as required.

  • Attends Sales Team Meetings as required by the Regional Sales Manager or DSAM

  • Effectively manages expenses and submits neat and accurate expense reports in a timely manner.

  • Communicates, promotes, and showcases the Shingle & Gibb Core Values, policies, and procedures throughout the organization.

Requirements:

  • High School Degree or equivalent is required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Trade School Certificate in an engineering or technical discipline is preferred.

  • 3 years of Outside Sales experience is required; 5 years is preferred.

  • 3 years of relevant automation industry experience is preferred.

  • Results driven.

  • Ability to independently self-start or work together as a part of a team.

  • Technology fluent in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential job functions:

  • Ability to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time with frequent walking in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, wet and may have odors related to manufacturing.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently.

  • Requires the use of safety equipment that may include, but not limited to a hard hat, vest, safety glasses, non-slip and/ or steel-toed shoes, and other personal protective equipment (PPE).
