Accountant
Summary
Shingle & Gibb’s Accountant is responsible for day to day general ledger functions and many regular financial management tasks. Areas of financial management will include sales and use tax reporting, budget preparation and maintenance, journal entry preparation and posting and ad-hoc financial reporting as needed by the Leadership team Position may also assist with payroll processing and payroll tax support.
Essential Job Functions
Understand and embody the Shingle Core Values
Performs basic accounting duties to include general ledger account maintenance and may include preparation, review and/or posting of journal entries on a monthly basis
Maintenance of monthly workpaper analysis for major balance sheet accounts
Prepare monthly account reconciliations for cash, receivables, payables and other select accounts which includes investigation of any significant variances
Oversight of daily cash management process
Oversight of company expense report process to ensure regular processing and payment to employees
Management of sales and use tax process to include reporting, analysis, and payment (monthly and/or quarterly)
Participate in annual budget preparation process and provide regular monthly analysis of actual results compared to budget
Provide assistance for payroll processing and payroll tax support as needed
Supports the Leadership Team by performing any assigned financial, administrative, or ad-hoc reporting as requested to further the Company’s financial goals
Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.
Maintains financial historical records as required by retention guidelines.
Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing results as needed.
Attends and actively contributes to weekly Financial L10 Meetings.
Communicates, promotes and showcases the Shingle & Gibb Core Values, policies and procedures throughout the organization.
Job Requirements
Education:
High School Degree or equivalent is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field study is preferred; equivalent work experience considered
Experience:
- 2-5 years of general accounting or auditing experience in a corporate setting is required.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in double-entry accounting procedures
Understanding of all major financial reports including but not limited to Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, Income Statement
Technology fluent in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
Proficient in data entry and management.
Attention to detail.
High level of accuracy.
Problem-solving.
Teamwork.
Customer/ Client focus.
Good Communication Skills.
Work Environment:
As a member of the Accounting Department, the Accountant is required to work from Shingle Headquarters located in Moorestown, NJ. Most of the work will be completed in an office setting and a workspace will be provided for the Accountant including, but not limited to a computer, phone, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines
