Graybar Director of Sales in Diamond Bar, California

As Director of Sales for the California district, you will be primarily responsible for achieving the sales and gross margin budgets for the communication and data, electrical, and industrial business for end user accounts, specifically in the commercial, institutional and government spaces. You will drive strategic direction from Corporate into the field sales and marketing.

The expected rate of pay for this position is $180,000-$200,000 annually. This position is also bonus eligible with a target of 35%, based on specific and relevant business metrics. Additionally, the role is eligible for our profit-sharing plan and stock purchase plan.

In this role you will:

  • Implement the Corporate strategies and initiatives across the California district

  • Responsible for directing and providing quality sales support to all customers through Managers Specialty Business, Sales Managers, Account Managers, Sales Representatives, and other employees

  • Direct National Account/Corporate Account activity at the district level to ensure conformance to National Agreement terms and conditions

  • Review and approve applicable workflows

  • Ensure the Company's sales policies are followed

  • Assist all group District Vice Presidents in preparing the district sales and gross margin budgets by location

  • Ensure proper sales and support coverage to achieve assigned sales and margin budget by location

  • Recommend salaries and assignment changes for Sales Representatives and market/product employees to the District Vice Presidents

  • Work with Managers to assign accounts to Sales Representatives

  • In cooperation with Corporate, responsible for supplier selectivity within group of districts for the Company's strategic suppliers

What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum ten years experience required

  • Four-year degree preferred

  • Knowledge of the wholesale distribution industry

  • Knowledge of financial analysis methods and techniques

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and practices

  • Leadership and supervisory skills

  • Analytical and problem solving skills

  • Planning and organizational skills

  • Written and verbal communication and presentation skills

  • Listening skills

  • Negotiation skills

  • Ability to leverage district and branch resources effectively

  • Ability to make quality fact based decisions using appropriate information

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers

  • Ability to be an effective member of, and lead, complex project teams

  • Extensive travel required
