Graybar Corporate Accountant in Clayton, Missouri

As a Corporate Accountant, you will ensure that all assigned accounting records and internal reports are prepared and maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Company policies, and procedures. You will provide management with timely information to enable their quarterly certification that their respective district’s financial information and data is accurate.

In this role you will:

  • Establish open communication with District management and ensure complete transparency from both sides with respect to local profit and loss.

  • Act as a resource for management in assigned district(s); communicate, educate, and provide guidance to local management regarding all accounting-related issues.

  • Maintain control procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and Company policies.

  • Analyze weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting reports.

  • Originate Company journal entries using accepted general ledger entry techniques.

  • Perform the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes for assigned district(s).

  • Evaluate and improve internal accounting processes; ensure that processes align with Company policy.

  • Participate in annual budget process with Corporate management.

    What you bring to the table:

  • 5+ years experience required: Progressive professional accounting experience with costing, budget, and tax responsibilities

  • 4 year degree required in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or Business Administration

  • Knowledge of GAAP

  • General knowledge of business processes involving operations, pricing, incentive plans, profit center hierarchies, and sales & marketing

  • Strong mathematical skills

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills

  • Leadership skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Time management skills

  • Good analytical skills

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and deal with confidential information

  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented, thorough, and accurate
